A missile attack on a mosque and religious school in the Red Sea governorate of Mocha on Friday, in Yemen’s volatile southwestern region of Abyan, killed at least 29 and injured dozens, said government officials.
Mohammed Nasser Waber, Yemen’s Minister of Health, told CNN that four of the dead were “severely injured.”
The attack came hours after Yemen’s Houthi rebels accused the Saudi-led coalition of carrying out two drone strikes on their stronghold of Saada city in northern Yemen, Reuters reported.
U.S. and Saudi officials told CNN that neither incident was conducted by U.S. drones.
Yemeni government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition have been battling Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in an offensive aimed at recapturing the port city of Hodeida from the rebels.
